Ros-Lehtinen Comments on Halt of U.S. Visas in Honduras
Regrets Use of Such Strong-Arm Tactics against Honduran People
(WASHINGTON) - U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Ranking Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, commented on today’s announcement that the U.S. embassy in Honduras would stop all non-emergency and non-immigrant visa services. Statement by Ros-Lehtinen:
“I am deeply disappointed that the U.S. has decided to once again come to the aid of Manuel Zelaya and go to such great lengths to defend his interests by penalizing the Honduran people.
“This is a blatant attempt to silence any and all opposition to Zelaya and to strong-arm the current Honduran government into accepting Zelaya’s return and ignoring his assault on the Honduran Constitution.”
